Customer Reviews
Got this tripod as a gift from my Wife and I just loved it . I travel a lot and this tripod is just perfect for travel. Fits easily in my Bag , very light weight , so no airlines hassles and durable enough to bear the check-in bumps. As for the tripod it has 3 leg partitions which when expended makes it a very decent size tripod . I don't have a very bulky camera which weighs like 1-2 lbs , this tripod holds it very stable . Night pics came out good as expected when mounted to a tripod .Overall very good value for money for the price less than $10.00. Highly recommended for travellers.
For under ten bucks, the Ravelli APLT2 tripod gives you about all you can reasonably expect for your money. Of course at this price, construction and materials are not the best, but the tripod is still fairly sturdy and functional, and tripod can probably handle the weight of most point and shoots without major issues. While it might be able to handle a DSLR with a lightweight lens, this tripod should not be the first choice of a photographer using a DSLR.
The aluminum legs have four sections, and can achieve a maximum height of 43 inches. The center column can also be raised, making the absolute maximum height about 49 inches. With the legs spread out, the tripod is fairly stable, but can still be somewhat prone to being tipped over, particularly if a heavy load is attached. The tripod's weight limit is not stated, but if you value your gear, you would be well advised not to take chances if a setup seems unstable.
The tripod is attached directed to the camera's tripod screw mount. There is no detachable base plate, or ball head. The camera can be setup in most positions, but it may take a little more work and time to get it set and locked into place. Changing positions isn't as quick and easy as a tripod with a ball head fitting. It will increase the cost, but convenience can be improved, if you add a ball head, or you can look at the more full-featured Ravelli APLT4 61" Light Weight Aluminum Tripod With Bag and Free Mini Wire Leg Tripod.
For a DSLR user, while not the first choice as your primary tripod, this compact rig could come in handy when you want to travel light, or just need a tripod for some limited simple setups. Build quality is a little rough in places, but should get the job done, providing you don't overload it. It comes with a carrying case, and a simple to use wire legged mini tripod that is quite handy. Also best suited to a point and shoot, the mini tripod has legs that are nice and stiff, and easy to set up. All together, this is an excellent value buy that could help improve your photography.
